Paris

Tuesday 21 Sept
It was an early start today as we departed the peacefulness and beauty of Switzerland for the long journey into France.  We crossed the French border and were in Basel before 9.00a.m.  Again, we met up with the Rhine River where it crosses over the Swiss / German / French borders on its flow north towards Holland.

This was a rather long, boring drive with some regions lush in greenery and others quite dry.  The land was very flat and often below road level.  The architecture also changed considerably with the city buildings being
much higher and the country houses varied from poor to very wealthy.
We only had a quick stop in the afternoon before reaching Paris in the late afternoon.  We checked into the Holiday Inn and had time for a quick drink and change of clothes before leaving for a night at 'Moulin Rogue'.  It was a night to get dressed up and look glam for a glam show!

The theatre was packed and we were rather squashed in but we had great seats near the front so we could see well.  The meal was delicious with four courses and as much wine as we wanted (should be for the cost of the evening!).

The show was fantastic, very colourful, full of action and plenty to watch. I am sure the men didn't know where to look next as all shapes and sizes appeared on the stage, but in a very professional manner.

A great night enjoyed by all and I think we would have regretted it if we hadn't gone, as it is a once in lifetime experience.
