London (1)

Day 1 - Tuesday 7 Sept

After a rather restless night due to unfamiliar surroundings, sounds and me trying to contain my coughing so others could sleep, Chris and I woke up rather tired but I was still determined to get into london Central.  Poor Chris was dragged out fairly early and we walked to Tudor Lodge where we were to spend some of our time, while we were staying in Eastcote.  It is an old typical hotel but very close to Sarah & Stephen's place and all we will need.  There was a train strike on in London so we started to walk to a bus stop but Sarah text to say some trains were going into Baker Street.  After getting Oyster cards and topping up the phone Sarah had let us use, we did manage to get a train and... WOW I was in  London!  So many black cabs, busy streets but so exciting.

We were tired so didn't intend on exploring to much today but happened to be very close to the Madam Tussuad's Wax Museum so we joined the queue and after about half an hour wait we were in the company of what looked like life resemblances of famous people - Queen & Duke, Princess Diana, Elvis and many famous musicians, sports celebrities ....  the list goes on.  It was fun having our photos taken next to famous people and Chris being close to the movie stars!! The tour ended with a trip through the history of London in small electric carts, seeing visual impressions of major events through the centuries. We thoroughly enjoyed the  experience even though it was expensive; something well worth doing.

We caught the train back to Eastcote and spent a quiet afternoon back at Sarah & Stephen's flat before they arrived home.  Sarah cooked a lovely, healthy meal for us then we watched a slide show of just a small sample of the many exciting countries they have visited over the past 18 months.  What great experiences they have already had and many more to come. The beautiful smell of Sarah's homemade bread was drifting from the kitchen, ready for breakfast in the morning.  An early night for us all.
