London (5a)

Saturday 11 Sept

It was sad saying farewell to Sarah and Stephen on the Saturday afternoon but we had the tour to start and they were going to a concert that night so we went our separate ways, me thinking I was on the wrong train and jumping off - poor Chris had to get the doors opened to get off as well.  I am sure one of us would have got lost if we had got separated!

We made our way back to James Park Station then walked to St Ermins Hotel.  This is a beautiful old hotel in Westminster which use to used by the members of Parliament when The House was sitting.  It is still in its more-or-less original state but is closing in March 2011 for a total refurbishment, still retaining as much of the original character as possible.

We booked into the hotel but our reservation couldn't be found.  Luckily I had the receipt of payment so we then got an up-grade to the top suite on level 5.  WOW... was it grand.  Huge bedroom with TV, massive bathroom and separate lounge with another TV and balcony.  All the glamour, yet still in it's original style. I felt like royalty walking up those stairs!!

Once we were settled in our room we went for a walk around Westminster and ended up having drinks and dinner at the Albert Inn. So beautiful  with lovely flowers, a traditional atmosphere and sun pouring in.  We then went back to the hotel to prepare for an early start and a long day on Sunday.
